What is Vestibular Rehab Therapy?
Vestibular Rehab Therapy (VRT) is a specialized form of physical therapy designed for people experiencing vestibular dysfunction. The primary goal is to treat balance problems, dizziness, and vertigo by retraining the brain and body to process sensory information more effectively.
How Does VRT Work?
- Comprehensive Evaluation:
Each patient begins with a thorough examination to assess the three systems involved in balance:- Vision
- Vestibular (inner ear)
- Proprioception (body awareness)
- Personalized Home Exercise Program:
Based on the evaluation, a customized exercise plan is developed to help reduce dizziness and improve balance. These exercises are designed to be performed at home, supporting ongoing recovery.
