Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's disease is a nervous system disease that affects a person's ability to move.  The classic signs include:
  • stooped posture
  • tremors (typically starting in one hand)
  • Bradykinesia (slowness of movement)
  • Hypokinesia (decreased size of motion) i.e. shortened steps, or shuffling of steps
  • Akinesia (stopping of motion) i.e. often termed as freezing of gait
Dr. Wahab has had several years of experience with developing an exercise program for people with Parkinson's disease throughout all stages of the disease.  Dr. Wahab values the neuroplastic/ neuroprotective benefits to a customized home program for someone with Parkinson's disease to slow the progression of the disease, and to encourage speed and size of movement with the patient.

Dr. Wahab has been involved as a co-investigator on a study at Regis University related to sensory loss and balance for people with Parkinson's Disease.  Dr. Wahab has lectured at the doctoral level to students on the treatment of people with Parkinson's disease.
